The Procyon team knew that they needed SOC 2 compliance quickly, for the simple reason that their prospective customers demanded it. But there were a couple of issues. Since the team was small, the company was resource-challenged. And, while the team had deep experience with other compliance frameworks, even complex ones like FIPS 140-02 used in government and in banks, they didn’t know SOC 2.
Procyon selected Akitra after evaluating alternatives, heavily influenced by extremely positive recommendations from current Akitra customers.
The implementation went very smoothly. “Everything was right there in Akitra’s SaaS app”, said CTO Suman Sharma. “Akitra’s compliance automation meant we didn’t have to worry about tracking a ton of policies and reports and the like. And, we could edit any document that needed it, right in the app. We also appreciated having a single online repository – so there was no emailing around to other team members or to the auditor, and nothing getting lost.”
Suman also praised the level of assistance provided by Akitra: “Akitra’s customer success experts were always very responsive and very clear about what needed to be done and what 1-2-3 steps to follow. They never tried to bounce questions back to us by sending us a 20-pagedocument and telling us to just go find the answer there ourselves.”
1. Procyon completed its SOC 2 compliance within 30 days, with report in hand, far faster than any manual compliance process would have taken.
2. Achieving compliance immediately put the company into contention with getting its products into POC deployments with prospective customers.as needed for international and for vertical markets.
3. Procyon is also well positioned, with Akitra’s compliance automation in place, to embark on the next phase of SOC 2compliance, to achieve continuous compliance with SOC 2 Type 2. It has a repeatable process in place, and also has the means to easily become compliant with other compliance frameworks as needed for international and for vertical markets.
